Constructing a Sandblasted Sign

Constructing a Sandblasted Sign begins with the initial drawing by Allied Signs, Sedalia

After thorough communication with the customer, we begin the process by creating a sign design that reflects the customer’s vision.

we create a redwood blank by laminating two sheets of conheart redwood, gluing & dowelling all joints, sanding the surface smooth, and then cutting to shape.

Once the design is approved, we create a redwood blank by laminating two sheets of conheart redwood, gluing & dowelling all joints, sanding the surface smooth, and then cutting to shape.

apply a sandblasting stencil mask to the redwood blank, draw our design on the stencil, and begin hand-cutting it out.

Next, we apply a sandblasting stencil mask to the redwood blank, draw our design on the stencil, and begin hand-cutting it out.

Then, we remove parts of the stencil to expose the wood for sandblasting. We have the sandblasting done out of house. (It keeps my shop much cleaner!)

Finally we apply acrylic paints to the sign so it will have the designed look and color.

Finally, we apply acrylic paint to the sign to achieve the desired look and color.
